resize template to 1030px width (for using with a skin banner)

hi all
i’ve to resize the width of the theme to a maximum of 1030 pixel because i’ve to use it with a skin banner that comes with predefined dimensions.
see screenshot below.

i’ve changed all the data on the style.css file from 1068 to 1030, uploaded a 1×1 png image on background options on the theme panel to let it switch to boxed version, but still, somehow, i’ve the container still at 1068px.
any hint?

Hi,

It would be better to try and adjust the background ad size if possible instead of the theme, since the theme has no option to reduce the content width. When a background image is set through the theme panel the website will be boxed.
The theme (content) in this case will have a width of 1164px. If you were to reduce this width to 1030px the result would be like this

It is not recommended to make modifications to the theme containers, this will most likely create layout issues. All the elements on the page are calculated based on the fixed width, margins and padding will not work properly.
