Hi,
in my previous theme I was using 19:6 proportion for my posts featured images. Now I’m guessing I should crop images to fit a 4:3 proportion. They don’t show correctly in the big grid and thumbs are squashed horizontally (as the proportion I’m using is wide).
Is there a better way to do this than editing each photo I use as a featured image for my posts?
By the way your image guidelines for cropping aren’t helpful in this sense. Perhaps updating this info would be useful to others.

Unfortunately, our theme does not have any such an option that allows you to edit the Aspect Ratio of your images. You should edit them to another tool (like Photoshop) and then load them in the theme.

How can I make custom thumbnails for the Big Grid?
I’ve manage to fix a thumbnail, but it’s changed the featured image of the post as well. Isn’t there an option to turn off the automatic cropping?

Unfortunately, please notice that our theme does not have any such an option that allows you to turn off the cropping system, sorry! This system will automatically crop your images from center to top. So, if you do not like this functionality, you should edit the theme core files and try to implement your own cropping system if you know this, sorry! Notice that is not a simple task and if you are not aware of the steps which are needed to take in this case, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to help you because we cannot provide custom work at the moment, sorry!
