But for the h4, there is no one place to find all entries. Separate elements have their own code so it has to be changed in multiple parts of the site.

Yes they will be removed, you could make backups of the files and replace them in the theme after making an update. Of course you would have to check if the files have been modified in anyway in the update, or there could be issues. So this method may not be update proof.

Make sure you are making the modification correctly if required for you and save it, then clear all caching and CDN if used. Inspect the result with the browser inspector.

I could not say exactly if there will be modifications to the title headings in the next update. I believe there are some more important tasks to be completed at the moment. It is hard for the developer team to prioritize these tasks. Maybe in a future update you will be able to have more control over the headings.
