Similar Articles Suggestion

Would it be possible to change the Similar Articles functionality so that it shows articles based on the tags they have in common.

Right now, when there are articles that have a tag in common, they will appear in the Similar Articles section. It doesn’t matter how many tags they have in common, whether it’s 1 or 5 tags.

Suggestion: It would be more appropriate if articles showed based on how many tags the articles have in common. 2 articles with 5 tags in common are more similar than 2 articles with just 1 tag in common.

I hope this makes sense. If you need a better explanation, let me know and I will give it another try.

I really would like to be able to chose witch articles display there, because this influences my adsence earning so I want to put high CPC articles there. Thanks in advance!

@salocharly
Note you can manually link to any of your high CPC articles, simply by putting the photo from your media gallery, flush left, with the headline to the story next to it; at bottom of any post. We do this to highlight a special story related to the current one which we want people to go to next before anything else. Try it, might work for you 🙂

We use a subhead like “recommended for you.”

I have the same issue with relevance; maybe someday the theme could implement the relation-finders of other plugins that do the job, like YARPP, the way it works seamlessly with those avatar plugins…

I think we’re using an unordered list with a custom CSS class called ‘relatedjunk’

On several of our news site, we actually use a plugin:
Contextual Related Posts
https://wordpress.org/plugins/contextual-related-posts/
addon
https://wordpress.org/plugins/crp-taxonomy/

We’ve been using this for couple of years (longer?). Continues to work well for us.
