Is it possible to display the same image for posts of a specific category that is different than the thumbnail? This would be for a Music Review section that would display a photo of a turntable with the category title for all posts assigned to that category while keeping the thumbnail of the album cover where multiple posts are displayed(front page and categories page).

Unfortunately, the theme does not have any such an option for this, sorry! You should use a plugin for this.
