Some of the posts on my site are reviews.
I give products a rating of up to 5 stars.
I assumed the NewsMag theme would create the necessary structured data, for google to display my rating in search results. But my articles just show up as text in search results.
Do I have to manually add the structured data to every review, or am I missing something?

The theme does not control the information displayed by Google in SERP, it depends on Google if stars rating is displayed or not.
When you make major changes in site’s HTML structure, like switching from one theme to another, Google crawler needs some time until will understand the new structure and some information may not be displayed for a while. Try to regenerate your sitemap and submit it to Google, it may help: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/enable-xml-sitemaps-in-the-wordpress-seo-plugin/

The main thing I wasn’t sure about to start with was whether the structured data (e.g. author and review rating) was being set correctly, but after checking with Google’s Structured Data Testing Tool it does all look correct.
