I have a genealogy website (no buying or selling) with subdomains for each family line. I have purchased the Newspaper theme and it appears I can’t use the theme on more than one subdomain at a time. If I went back to a subdirectory multisite setup, could I then use the theme on all the sites simultaneously? They will all be configured the same, just different content. Thank you.

That will require multiple theme licenses. According to Envato license terms a theme can be used for a single end product (website)
– https://themeforest.net/licenses/standard
– https://themeforest.net/licenses/terms/regular
So the theme may be installed and activated on a single website based on those terms. Activating it on a testing domain or sub-domain is permitted, but different websites with different content will require more licenses.
