There are two types of Related posts in the image. One from Jetpack and other one from Newsmag theme.
On the Newsmag Related posts if you notice the images are being cropped, it’s not coming full. but if you see the second Widget from Jetpack. The images are coming perfectly.
How can I do it like the Jetpack one?

Notice that our Related Articles block uses a special thumb for this and the image will be cropped by this, as you can see here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/BVc1OdVPAu The general cropping system in the theme is from center to top. Try to use another image if yours does not fit as expected.
