I’m working with this website, http://www.hiligpinoy.com. Contents are recently imported from blogger.com. Problem is thumbnails are not showing at homepage. Used regen. thumbnails plugin and also auto feature image plugin but still no image showing at homepage. Show featured image is enabled in them panel. Hope you can help me with this.
Hi,
@dekbanks As Steven mentioned you need to make sure you add an image as a featured image to each post. By adding this featured image then the thumbs are created then used to your homepage. Please let me know!
Thanks

Hi, I’m joining in with a question. I hope I’m not off-topic. I’m planning to move another website to Newspaper, but the current theme uses a custom field “other_media” instead of the standard Featured Image (it’s an old theme). Since it’s more than 700 posts, it would be a pain to upload a featured image again for each one of them. Is there any way we can set Newspaper to use the URL in the custom field when it does not find a featured image? Or is there a plugin you’re aware of that can do this automatically?
Thank you in advance!
Phil
I have recommended couple of plugins so many times on the forum it should be a sticky by now 🙂
1) Auto Post Thumbnail PRO – will generate a featured image from the first image in each post (http://codecanyon.net/item/auto-post-thumbnail-pro/4322624)
2) Thumbnail Upscale – to make larger images to match theme sizes from existing mis-matched smaller sizes (e.g., if your image is 600×400, this would give you the larger sizes)
3) Use the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin as needed with the above.
I used both of these to transfer from a Woo Canvas setup to Newspaper, as one example.
(admin: feel free to repost this to a sticky if you want) 🙂
@PhilDbz
you are correct on Auto Post Thumbnail PRO; supposedly he’s working on adding the feature when I asked about that several months back, but looks like it’s not yet a feature. I believe he’s planning on it, for just such an issue, and for the old method of using custom field “image” or “featured_image” and your image field, etc.
(d’oh!)
Oh, Sanisoft follow up message said he is *not* going to add that feature.
However, you can contact him to “add” the feature for billable hourly rate to make custom version of plugin.
SO, that is what I’d do, unless you can find better solution.
Seems like you should be able to somehow do a database edit to re-align the custom field to clone into the featured image data field, but I have no advice on that. You would have to consult a dbase expert for that.
Hi Christopher,
thank you for the quick replies.I’m trying to look for a different approach: since all images are just in custom field and not in the library, i can try to automatically add all images in the upload folder to the library, then associate each image to a post as a thumbnail image, since by then all images should have a postID. Otherwise, I’ll get in touch with Sanisoft.
Cheers!
