Hi,
Is there a way to keep the search bar always on instead of requiring the user to click the magnifying glass icon?

Hello Jay,
If you want to replace the newspaper live search with a standard WordPress search widget, you can first hide the search: https://www.screencast.com/t/8NL6SfvxKHQK
and then find a custom implementation to get a search in the main menu such as https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/205657/how-do-i-add-a-search-box-to-the-nav-menu
