Author info placement for articles

Hey support forum! I hope everyone is doing okay!
I need help with two things that I just cannot seem to be able to customize.

1) Add by-lines (author’s name) under stories published on the front page.

2) Include the author’s name, email and Twitter handle over or under
that featured photo. The format should be:
• By Adrian Bono | Twitter: @AdrianBono | Email: adrian@bubblear.com

Does anyone have any advice to offer me?

Thanks a bunch!

Hi,

For your first issue you need to enable/uncomment the author for the modules you use and you want to show the author for like this: http://screencast.com/t/lshA2a64wV
You need to do this for all modules except those highlighted: http://screencast.com/t/FOeGJyWYMhYU For those marked in the previous screen capture you have this option in theme panel: http://screencast.com/t/eeK1saYe5jGZ
Regarding the second issue you will have to customize the get_author() function from td_module.php file: http://screencast.com/t/1Q6ryzZ3

Thanks

Hi,

The “author under title” option was added to the theme from theme version 4.4 so if you don’t have theme version 4.4 or 4.5 you don’t have it and you need to update the theme.
To edit a theme file you will have to use a source code editor like Notepad++, open the file, make the changes then save it. You can find the files in the theme folder: http://screencast.com/t/zCGRkXr0rOo

For your second issue you will need custom work as the theme doesn’t have an option for that you can try to find a plugin that dose it or get someone to do it for you if you don’t know how to do it yourself because we cannot offer custom work as we work hard on the development, updates, fixes and support. You can find a freelancer on sites like: http://studio.envato.com/ if you don’t know how to do it yourself.

Thanks

Hey

I’m having a little bit of trouble following your instructions. Ive updated the newspaper theme, and activated the author under title option. All that does is put the author under the title when someone is reading the post, not on the homepage and modules where I needed it. I know almost nothing about development, how do I use Note++ to open and save the document. What document, where do I find it, how do I save it so the changes register on the website?

THanks

Hi,

Like I said above, you need to enable/uncomment the author for the modules you use and you want to show the author for like this: http://screencast.com/t/lshA2a64wV
You need to do this for all modules except those highlighted: http://screencast.com/t/FOeGJyWYMhYU For those marked in the previous screen capture you have this option in theme panel: http://screencast.com/t/eeK1saYe5jGZ
You can find lots of tutorials online on how to use an code editor like Notepad++ I suggest you follow some before edit a file.
You can find the theme files in your WordPress installation wp-content > themes > newspaper and inside that path you should see this files: http://screencast.com/t/zCGRkXr0rOo
In this path include > modules you can find the modules files, open them using notepad++ make the change then save and done! the changes should appear on your site.
If you still can’t managed this we suggest to hire or get someone to help you make this changes.

Thanks
