The WP Super Cache plugin is not allowed on the WP system do to performance, security, or compatibility issues. Will other cache plugins work with Newspaper8.8? Any suggestions? I am thining of using Hummingbird by WPMU DEV.

You can try other cache plugins but test thoroughly to prevent any compatibility issues (coz the theme developers only tested wp super cache). I use WP fastest cache and it works well with the theme.

WP Fastest Cache is not allowed by WordPress just like WP Super Cache.

“Not allowed by WordPress” — means what exactly? Do you mean hosted as a WordPress VIP, or what “WP System” do you mean – *exactly* ?

Are you saying your web hosting service does not support it?

If your hosting is saying not allowed, best to reach out to them and ask WHAT caching is allowed; for example they may be running opcache and varnish and you may not need a caching plugin.

Or, you may have a budget account that doesn’t allow certain plugins at all due to consuming too much system resources.

Folks might be better able to assist if you give a wee bit more info 🙂

@mark1webmaster Like Chris said, this might be related to your web host. Reach out to them.

When attempting to add plugins in my WordPress
There are a few plugins on the WordPress plugin list page that say they are “Not Available (?)” and when I hover over the question mark it says “This plugin is not allowed on our system due to performance, security, or compatibility concerns. Please contact support with any questions.”
The plugins are:
WP Super Cache
WP Fastest Cache
W3 Total Cache

I was attempting to install WP Super Cache. I can download it after clicking on the WP Super Cache link, from the popup, but then when inside the WordPress plugin list it has a big question mark icon and says not available. This also happens when I attempt to upload it from my computer. It is not the hosting, GoDaddy, I talked with them and they duplicated my setup and had no problem getting and installing it. Other people say they have no issues. What can be causing this?

that message ‘This plugin is not allowed on our system due to performance, security, or compatibility concerns. Please contact support with any questions’ is from your hosting provider; as the ‘theme’ doesn’t control plugin setup other than it’s own internal plugins, not third party plugins from wordpress.org.

‘our system’ is the important note — the theme has nothing to do with ‘your system’ — that is the hosting provider.

Google is also your friend for doing simple searches

Thanks for taking the time to check this out. Why didn’t GoDaddy’s support know this when I was on the phone with them?!

Heh … welll….. tech support folk vary in actual knowledge, sadly. I only knew about this as I helped a client couple years back setup his website, and every time I went to update a page with changes it would not show up, and had to go into the GoDaddy panel to clear the aggressive caching.

Their tech support site is way better than it was 5 years ago, so good to bookmark that for a lot of common “what the heck” questions — especially if their tech support person is clueless. 🙂
