Here is talking about a block which displays the Popular Categories, as you can see here

I do not want to create a new block. I need to include other categories in the existing block. how do I do that?

You should check the Widgets section, Popular Category widget from here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/2N7q7ts9QyuE and there you will see all the available settings for this element.
