Hi,
I’m pretty new with the whole site building thing and I was wondering if I can let people make accounts.
Then with those accounts, favourite their posts and let them make categories to save posts under. I will be featuring products on my site and in this way I want to get people to save their favourites or potential presents for friends etc.
Help would be much appreciated,
Thank you!
If you are using WooCommerce, you likely would need to find a plugin for that, since WC is separate from the main core functions of WP, or the theme itself which is more focused on the content, and not user/customer features.
(I don’t work here, just feedback having used WooCommerce for several years now – there are lots of extension/plugins for stuff like that — as you need to have a more focused way to manage who can login and then use same account to buy stuff later, or send ‘buy’ or ‘recommended’ stuff to friends and track that, etc.)
Hi,
That would not be possible by default and with theme options. Maybe it is possible with a plugin if there are any for this purpose. You could search online for some user accounts plugins and make tests with them.
Note that not all plugins are compatible with themes in general.
Website users can create accounts, these would be all the user types (roles) WordPress has to offer and their capabilities
– https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/wordpress-user-roles-and-permissions/
– https://codex.wordpress.org/Roles_and_Capabilities
The theme will not add any custom user roles or modify their capabilities. The basics will apply.
Thanks
Thanks a lot for the clarification.
I have another question.
When you make a category, it is automatically a page on its own with all the posts that belong to that category. But why doesn’t clicking on a category in the main menu instantly link you to that page? it just shows you subcategories or if you don’t have them, only the posts belonging to the category. I would love for my audience to be able to instantly navigate to all the posts of a single category by a simple click on the main menu. Can I make this possible?
Thank you
Hi,
The main category can be clicked, if you add the menu item as category
– https://www.screencast.com/t/BFP6GT56TfXo
The category will be added to the respective menu, and clicking on it will lead to the category page.
Mega-menus can be created if you want to, with or without sub-categories

Thanks
Thank you!
I am bumping into one more problem though :s
I have used the default demo to start with, but now I can not delete the section on the bottom of my page: “Latest posts”, also I can not delete the two sidebars next to latest posts: “Hot News” and “Most Popular”
You can remove that section, simply select a different page template for the page

Choose the default page template for example. That will remove the sidebar of the latest articles section as well.
