I’ve tried to use Mailchimp Embed code and I thought the form would show when I use the Newsletter Element. Instead, I always see email field and submit button – after I click submit then it opens the form in a separate tab (hosted by Mailchimp). Is that all it’s capable of? Or should I be able to show the Mailchimp form embedded on our site?
I also tried using Contact Form 7 and using a shortcode, but the shortcode isn’t processed – it just displays the raw shortcode on the page.
Hello Philip Brookes,
Before using the Contact Form 7 plugin, please check the documentation from here ->
https://contactform7.com/docs/ to see how the shortcodes work. Other shortcodes you want to use you would have to enter directly into the post content. Like a contact form shortcode for example – https://www.screencast.com/t/U7uA5JaA92
You should check the plugin’s documentation to check the needed steps for configuration of this plugin. You can start from here -> https://mailchimp.com/resources/guides/getting-started-with-mailchimp/
Thanks for your understanding!
Thanks Catalin, I’ll look further into it but at present I’m only trying Contact Form 7 because the Mailchimp embed functionality isn’t behaving as I would expect – the form is functioning, but you’re still showing me your own field that your Newsletter plugin creates and I can’t control, and then only redirecting to the Mailchimp form when user clicks submit.
I’ve used Contact Form 7 and other shortcodes thousands of times before, the issue I’m having at present is not the syntax of the shortcode – it’s the fact that the shortcode isn’t processed at all – it’s simply rendered as raw code.
Hello Philip,
I have made some test with Mail Chimp on my end and the functionality of it should work like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/qsXYyuC6 Did not work for you? Provide more details and some useful screenshots with the error if is not what you mean.
Thanks.
Hi Catalin, your screencast shows only one data field – email address. And that doesn’t come from the Mailchimp embedded form, it comes from your fields ‘Input placeholder’ and ‘Button text’. Instead, we want to see First Name, Last Name, email address. But we only see the email address field your plugin displays. Then, when we click subscribe it clicks through to the form but not embedded in the site either, it’s just hosted on the Mailchimp servers and that’s the URL we see in the browser. I expected the embed code to show the form embedded directly in the page we’re building, and showing the fields we’ve included in the Mailchimp embedded form. (I could provide screenshots if you wish but it would just look like what you provided – which DOESN’T show the Mailchimp embedded form fields – and I’m not sure how to attach screenshots here.)
Hi,
The Newsletter plugin will show only the email field currently, regardless of other fields that are included in the embed code. I believe this will be modified in coming updates, the plugin will be improved in may aspects.
You can try the alternative, enter the form embed code in a simple text element, like the column text for example. Then the form will be displayed exactly as created.
Sorry or the inconvenience.
Thanks
Thanks for that clarification – it had me stumped, I’ll find another solution for now and look forward to your future updates.
