Hello Tagdiv team. What do you think of this feature based on this comment in relation to the Newspaper Theme? https://wptavern.com/gutenberg-3-3-released-adds-archives-and-recent-comments-blocks#comment-253257

Hi,

That is an interesting discussion, however I can’t provide any specific details about how the theme will be adapted for Gutenberg or what exactly will happen. I am positive that when the time comes we will think of the best solution in the matter.

Good to hear @simion. One last question, how do the new cloud library post templates recognise most viewed posts e.g. in 7 days? In the default templates, I had enabled the feature but hid it with CSS.

That would be still by post views, if the theme panel views setting is active the count will go on for the cloud template posts.

You can choose to display the views or not with in the single template, as long as the theme panel setting is active the view count will work.

Okay. Thanks.

And now…

A new, modern publishing experience is coming soon.

The new editor will be enabled by default in the next major release of WordPress.

Hi Simion,

Great to hear! I’m sure with the latest Gutenberg news you already thought about it or are thinking about it?
Would be great to use the tagDiv elements as blocks of the Gutenberg editor!

Thanks,
Jan

Indeed the team should be planning on how to introduce the elements in the classic editor in Gutenberg.

Hi,

The tagDiv composer can be used to create post templates, not actual posts. It remains to be seen if this will change in the future. The new WordPress editor will be tested on our side properly.
If you should make tests with it in a testing or development install, please let us know if you encounter any issues.

Thanks

I’ve been playing with it a bit this morning on our test site. So far my only real problems are:
– the Gutenberg plugin seems to have added about 21px of white space to the top of each article, below the main menu. Here’s an example page:
http://compareallvans.co.uk/car-finance-how-do-i-settle-a-pcp-early/

– H5 & H6 seem to have disappeared when creating a new post

– there’s a new ‘sub-title’ option, which may be designed to replaced H5 & H6, but I can’t style it in the theme panel to match the rest of my formatting.

Other things I’ve found are related to plugins rather than the Newspaper theme.

@stuartmasson Thank you for posting these, I will add them for testing on our side.

Hi Simion,

Would it be worth having an official Gutenberg feedback thread in the forum for everyone to raise any issues, or is that likely to create more confusion than it solves?

PS: in addition to my previous post, Gutenberg seems to add 21px of white space to the bottom of every page, as well as at the top as previously advised.

That is an interesting idea, something like a feedback topic will be considered. It would help centralize all the feedback.

I tried creating a post with the plugin, but it took me longer than I actually do. The interface is not intuitive. I think personally I will hold on to the classic editor using the classic editor plugin until the Gutenberg plugin becomes stable beyond WordPress 5.0.
