The Edit comment link on comments pages (visibl when logged in as Admin) is not visible in Newspaper8. Neither is a ‘link-template.php’ in the theme.
Any ideas how I can get it back?

That would be available in a default wordpress theme, our theme does not show it. I have added this on our list and it will be considered for a future update.
If this is highly required for you, you could make a small modification in the theme comments file to make it appear
