This is my first time using Newspaper theme – and I am very used to working on Visual Composer. Is it not possible to use a demo (Classic Blog) and edit it using Visual Composer? Do I have to use the tagDiv composer if I am using a demo? Please advise.

You can use Visual Composer or tagDiv Composer, but do not use both composers simultaneously on the same page.
But I recommend you to take a look on tagDiv Composer ( https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/ ) and try it, is more easy to build pages, and it’s in real time because you will edit directly on the front page.

Thank you very much for your response! Unfortunately, I am unable to install Visual Composer as I keep getting the following error:

I will try the tagDiv composer for sure – thank you for the tutorial link. But just in case, I would like to have Visual Composer installed as well. Please let me know if there is anything I am doing wrong!

You need first to remove/delete js_composer from /wpcom-151455459/wp-content/plugins/js_composer and after that try to install again ( https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-use-visual-composer/ ) .
