Cannot edit functions.php?

Hi,

I’m trying to insert the code required for Google tag manager into functions.php (because the code must be inserted in both head and body tags, not just 1 location), but hit the error message:

“Something went wrong. Your change may not have been saved. Please try again. There is also a chance that you may need to manually fix and upload the file over http://FTP.”

I have no problems editing other files in another theme, so I suspect the issue is not with server-side file permissions but with the Newspaper theme itself.

Do you know how we can resolve this?

Have you try to edit the file from Appearance>Editor ( https://www.screencast.com/t/zOR1RQWm ).

Yes, that’s exactly what I did. Didn’t succeed.

Hi,

Try to edit the file with notepad++, or copy the file from your host, edit it with an editor, save and update/replace to host.
