The facebook like selector/counter is working fine for me on new and recent posts, but it is not picking up likes on older fb posts.
Is there a way of flushing/re-trawling the facebook data?
Should the facebook like box get info from facebook pages posts and from facebook business manager pages posts?
Is there any way of not showing the like box on given criteria, e.g. do not show on posts before x date, or do not show if likes <1?

That would be normal, the URL changed so Facebook treats it, as a new website, in no relation to your previous address. I remember other users who lost the likes after changing the website URL, they were unsuccessful at the time.
Maybe you can follow that guide and achieve it. Or maybe something like this
