Big Featured Image Caption

Hi there,

How to add the caption to the Single Post Bg Featured Image which is on the Single Post Template 36 from the Cloud Templates? I’ve renamed my edited template as just “Single Template” so not sure that would impact any css provided.

I would use the normal featured image element but it’s causing site wide image size issues.

Cheers.

Hi Thakksy,

Unfortunateyly, the theme does not have any such an option that allows you to display the image caption for featured image, sorry!

Thanks for your understanding!

Not even something like this?
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/featured-image-show-caption/

We have to find a way to display the copyright details of images.

Hi,

Currently only the single post featured image can display the caption of the image when available, the featured background image cannot

I could add this as a request and it will be considered for a future update. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Thanks

Hey Simion,

By request meaning, you could add a way to do it just this time? The big background featured image is so much better apart from not having the caption because it always helps stop people stealing my images.

I could choose the regular featured image instead but would need help sorting out the exact image size needed. The images are all different, look mushy and way too high on every post when I have the regularly featured image activated.

Cheers

I added a caption setting request on the list for the cloud library plugin, our developer team will consider it.

The single post featured image element has an option to choose the image size for more quality results if that is what you mean
https://www.screencast.com/t/gT5DGo8ZsH
You can place this element anywhere in the template, add a margin top to it or to the row containing it if it’s to high. Or use an empty space element with a height of your choosing.

Thanks for sending in that request to the dev team.

The only way for now would be to use the “featured image” element instead of “bg featured image” element. What would be the recommended size after using the following CSS code:

calc(((-100vw + 100%) / 3))

Could you help me get the correct image size for it?

That code seems to remove the featured image from view when I use it for the image width. What exactly is the problem you are facing with the featured image element, or what are you trying to do? Some examples would be helpful. This element doesn’t have a specific image size requirement.

It’s just when I implement this element the image depending on the post looks all fuzzy and the height is way too high. I used the following post as a test so you can see:

https://www.cruisehive.com/cruise-tips-from-insiders-you-should-definitely-take-note-of/9435

I’ve tried changing the image dimensions but just looks odd. Maybe there is another css code to make the image extend to the left of the page? That code is from your Single Post Template 36. Would also like all featured images across all posts to be the same dimension but don’t want a height more than 550 as the content will be too far down.

Any help would be great, cheers.

It looks fuzzy because a small thumbnail is used, try to set a bigger thumbnail for the element, for example this one – http://prntscr.com/m4uwy4
The image will then be of better quality and 580px in height. For full width results the row containing the featured image element would have to be stretched to full width.

Ok just did all that and nothing has changed. I only want the featured image to go all the way to the left, not the content.

You could modify that margin left like this – https://prnt.sc/m58et9

Indeed the result has not changed, seems the original image used as featured is not that big in size
https://www.cruisehive.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/shipsport2small.jpg
It is a little stretched so a loss in quality may happen.

I give up! The gap keeps changing depending on the screen size. Tried 103%, 100%, 95% and 93%. Surely there is css to simply make the featured image fit all the way to the left? Do you have a recommended image size with a height which is much less than it is now? So I can implement this across all the posts.

These would be all the available cloud post templates at the moment
https://affiliate.tagdiv.com/#/load/Single
They can be modified but all depends on the modifications, responsiveness has to be kept in mind.
Maybe replace that current margin left you use with a simple negative margin like -60% for example. Also maybe set different values per viewport – http://prntscr.com/m5dvp9

For some reason, the CSS with data in is highlighted in blue and doesn’t allow me to select and change it. Check here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/gfARXueg274N2YD56d

Also, what would be your recommended image size? I don’t want the featured image to be so high. And how to change all the featured images to the same size across the entire site?

Cheers Simion.

Hi,

Please notice that you can write your desired value over this one -> https://www.screencast.com/t/KbOzZobHL8i7

Thanks.

As mentioned above it doesn’t allow me to click and type anything into the blue highlighted areas.

Also, what would be your recommended image size? I don’t want the featured image to be so high. And how to change all the featured images to the same size across the entire site?

Thanks.
