I’ve currently installed Newspaper on a demo site. Should I activate the license or should I activate it directly on my main website?

You can activate it, and after you make all the changes you need and you know to use it you can rest https://www.screencast.com/t/rdjQDTbokwT it and activate it on the main website, in this way you’ll have access to all settings and feature of Newspaper theme.
