Hi, in Newspaper theme, when I place a featured video in a post with no featured image, the video appears correctly at the top of the post, but does not appear in the thumbnail frame on the home page. I had to take a screenshot of the video to appear there, but users have to click twice to get to the video. Is there a way to make the video image appear in the home page frame so one click will suffice? Thank you! http://www.amisun.com

Hi,
I tried the same with a video from your website – http://prntscr.com/mkf5v6 seems to work. Did it work before and the issue just started happening?
In some cases similar issues were caused by using old PHP versions, if you use an older version please try to change it to version 7 or 7.1 for example. Then check again.
The video can be played only in the post page, not in the module. In the module a thumbnail will be shown with a play icon over it (when video post format is selected).
Thanks
Hi Simon,
It did work before and this is the first time it has not worked.
The only reason it is working on the video you were working on is because I took a screenshot of the video and added it as the featured image. I didn’t have to do that before. The featured video generated its own image.
Where do you go to update the PHP?
Thank you!
Hi,
The images that the theme looks for when setting a featured video are these ones
– https://img.youtube.com/vi/-Ic4dnYYXGM/maxresdefault.jpg
– https://img.youtube.com/vi/-Ic4dnYYXGM/hqdefault.jpg
– https://img.youtube.com/vi/-Ic4dnYYXGM/sddefault.jpg
When uploading a video to YouTube there will be an option to choose a thumbnail or set your own

This is the only one available it seems for that video, and the one that was downloaded in my case when using the video as featured

It should be the same for you, working as it did before and like in my case. There were no mortification on our part to this functionality. Does it happen with all YouTube videos or just with some? Maybe you made some modifications recently, installed a plugin or something.
The PHP version can usually be set from cPanel, or contact the hosting provider to do it for you.
Thanks
