Update theme using Envato plugin without losing customizations

Hi guys,

first of all since this is my first post here since I have purchased the theme back in March, wanted to say thank you – I really like it!

Since I haven’t updated the theme since March, I have now decided to bring it up to date. The mouse-over preview on the menu (the thumbs with the articles) is not working, the social counters are not displaying correctly etc – so it’s time to update!

I am going to use the Envato Plugin to automatically update it, have generated the API keys and everything and now I can do it.

BUT:

Upon pressing the button Update automatically I got a warning message saying:

Updating this theme will lose any customizations you have made. ‘Cancel’ to stop, ‘OK’ to update.

So, obviously my developer guy has made a lot of modifications since March, and I have paid him a lot of money to tweak the theme a little bit.

Is there a way I update the theme without losing those modifications? That would be equal to losing hundreds of dollars I paid to my developer for the modifications…

so that’s not an option I could consider because I have to pay to our developer AGAIN s lot of money to do the modifications from scratch.

Therefore I would like you to:

1. Check why my menu is not working properly (the thumbs of the articles in each section are not showing/expanding on mouse over over the menu sections).
2. The search at the right is not working. Please not that there is a widget below the search icon and it’s working fine, but the search icon above it – it’s not.

How should I give you access to the backend in order to be able to take a look/and tell me what’s causing the problems or fix it?

I too have some customized things in my theme. Just curious what was changed in this update prior to installing it.
