The Old AMP plugin still working well for me. The new update by removing the tag div amp plugin was something i didn’t expect. So will I be able to keep using the old AMP plugin in future?

That will not be possible, if you update the theme to 9.6 the old plugin cannot be used anymore. Now the official AMP plugin can be used, integrated with the mobile theme plugin

I don’t want to use the mobile theme it doesn’t have auto post loading, and without mobile theme, amp paired version is not working.
Please make a tutorial (video if possible) on How to use AMP plugin without mobile theme (paired version). It will be a great help for many users like me.

I am completely frustrated, they have removed the previous AMP plugin, only because some people requested the possibility of inserting code more “easily”, now we are all hostages of collective ignorance and we are forced to use a crap. A disgust of pseudo-democratic strategy in its development, really regrettable!
The initial AMP plugin we released was designed based on the first version of the official AMP plugin for WordPress. Even though it was a tagDiv plugin, it still required the API of the official plugin.
The changes came from the official plugin as they limited the theme support in the version we used and instead of updating it, they launched a new version with another, better implementation. They also announced the initial release will shortly become deprecated.
This is why we decided to abandon our initial AMP plugin and use the new AMP implementation through the mobile theme. The new version required a specific theme for it as it would not have worked through the standard theme. There was no decision to take, unfortunately. If we have not made this step, soon the AMP plugin would have stopped working once the official AMP plugin implementation we used became deprecated.
So instead of a dedicated AMP plugin now the official and up to date AMP plugin can be used, with the mobile theme plugin (not required). Activating the mobile theme should improve the website performance on mobile noticeably.

Note that this combination of official AMP plugin and mobile theme will be improved in coming updates. We will write down user suggestions and take them into account. We are not forcing anything, using the official AMP plugin and the mobile theme is optional. You can use just the AMP plugin, or even a different AMP plugin that has the functionality you need.

For me, the AMP motive does not work through
wpDiskus plugin. I suggest that the APM websites only show the “Leave a comment” button and after clicking on it the topic would go to the standard version, where you could comment on the article. wpDiskus extensions have a huge impact on the popularity of websites and should not be underestimated…

What date will the old AMP become deprecated and stop working?

I really regret updating to the latest version. Should have learnt to wait by now to update, as nothing works right it seems with updates to this theme. Now my AMP pages look terrible.

Believe me that I understand you, luckily in my case I could only try it in a parallel site of tests. (Without affecting the operative version of the web).
In your case you could try to make a backup (in case you have backups).
I personally will continue with the previous plugin and the previous version as much as possible.
They have really done a terrible job, it could be said that they have “self-hacked” all their customers, a sub normal development manager.
I have to agree … this new AMP setup is awful. I was excited to upgrade to 9.6 to make use of the new “header layout” feature, but once I realized that I had to rebuild my AMP pages all over again (and also be forced to use the mobile theme) I decided to downgrade back to the old version for the time being.
It’s a good thing I always back up my old theme before upgrading!
You could still use the previous theme version and the old AMP plugin, as to when it will be deprecated I cannot say.
@GiacomoLaw If you want us to check you can send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and we will. Basically all there has to be done is mentioned in the guide. Install both plugins and activate the option in the theme panel.
@gossiponthis Why exactly do you need to rebuild all pages now? The previous AMP plugin did not have an option to build pages. The functionality now is the same as always with the mobile theme, just with AMP support. Maybe I am misunderstanding. Let me know.
I heavily customized the AMP theme (by modifying the template in the plugin) to fit the style of my site, so I would have to redo everything with the 9.5 update since it no longer uses the TagDiv AMP plugin.
Also, I’m not a huge fan of the “mobile theme” because it conflicts with my server’s caching system and causes errors on the frontend. I also hate the mobile theme’s homepage because my site doesn’t use the traditional “blog” setup on the front page and I would like for my mobile site to reflect that as well.

@gossiponthis You would have to redo the modifications even if the theme still used the old AMP plugin. After a theme update the theme plugins have to be updated, older plugins will automatically be deactivated.
@kumushka The current functionality with AMP and mobile theme may change, we are looking for solutions to allow more flexibility. Changes may be made in this matter starting with the next update.
