Bugs in the latest update

Hello Team, I found few buys in the latest update.
As everyone is complaining, it is having a compatibility issue with AMP support. I use the mobile theme from the beginning and it is awesome. It supports plugins but lightweight. I think the AMP compatibility issue is due to the unsupported plugins with the AMP.

In the Classic editor, I’m not able to add Links. When I click the link button, it is not showing any posts.
Found a few issues with the Tagdiv editor.

Hi,

I tried creating a link in the mobile editor, seems to work alright
http://prntscr.com/n0fu45http://prntscr.com/n0fu97

But I see there is a fatal error in your website homepage – http://prntscr.com/n0fv1c also in all posts. Does this go away if you deactivate the mobile theme plugin? Did you make any modifications to theme files or mobile theme files? Or added code in the theme files?

I suggest that you reinstall the theme – https://tagdiv.com/how-to-install-newspaper-theme/
Delete all the theme plugins and reinstall them from here – http://prntscr.com/n0fzs1
Also deactivate all non-theme plugins, clear all caching and purge CDN. Then check if it works properly. Let us know.

Thanks

Hello Simion. Thank you for your reply. I do find the fatal error. I have rolled back to the older version of the theme and the error is gone now. I’m using the AMP plugin with some advanced features (https://wordpress.org/plugins/accelerated-mobile-pages/) This is the second most used AMP plugin on WordPress. This uses the official plugin with some advanced options. I tried the AMP plugin as suggested in your blog. It shows error with the plugins I’m using. It is not showing my Custom Comments. So, I’m not using the Official Amp plugin. Check the site now for amp pages. Everything works great with the Advanced AMP plugin with the older version of Theme. Please leave the Mobile Plugin independent as it was before. Even if you are merging it with the AMP plugin gives the option to use only the mobile theme. I don’t need the official AMP plugin for my site as it lacks features like menu, etc.

Hi,

Thank you for the feedback, much appreciated. I have seen that plugin being used in other websites successfully. You are free to use any AMP plugin or solution you see fit, we do not force users to use our mobile theme and AMP.

Maybe in the future when we will add more options and improve the mobile theme and AMP integration you can consider to switch back.

Thanks

But I need the mobile theme for my website. It is giving conflict when the other amp plugin is active. Even after selecting mobile instead of mobile + Amp it is giving fatal error. Please fix it.

From what I can see the mobile theme is loading everywhere except the homepage
http://prntscr.com/n0z1rqhttp://prntscr.com/n0z1zdhttp://prntscr.com/n0z26j
AMP works as well – http://prntscr.com/n0z2jh

So the mobile theme works, but not in the homepage for some reason.

Thank you again. This is the older version of the theme. My site shows fatal error and not showing any content except the menu when the new theme is active.
Sorry that i forgot to mention this. What you are seeing now is from the theme version 9.6

Hi @Pradeep Augustine,

Please notice that in Newspaper c9.6.1 you have 3 options, one for only mobile, one for mobile and AMP( this option is working only with the AMP that we provide ), and AMP ( this option allow you on which page/post to make AMP, also this option is available only with provided AMP plugin ); if you choose to use others amp plugins, please use only the first option – Mobile -> https://www.screencast.com/t/FH50gFTk

Thank you!

Exactly as explained, i have selected the mobile only option and installed another amp plugin. It shows fatal error. That’s why i have contacted support.

Hi,

Unfortunately our mobile theme was tested only with the AMP plugin that we provide, we can not say for sure if the mobile theme will work properly with others AMP plugins or not.

Thank you for your understanding!

Mobile theme was good before. It works independently of which Amp plugin was used. But you did you implement such a change that disturbs the usual workflow? Please note that the mobile theme is mandatory for my sites. Consider this as a request.

Hi,

If you are not satisfied with the new version of Newspaper, then is no need to use it, you can go back to the previous version that you have.

Thank you for your understanding!
