Article like count shows different values depending on link source

Hi, I have a question concerning the article like count on a single post. Depending on how I “arrive” to the post, the article like count shows different values. If I open the post from a Facebook link or just simply type in the URL, the count is 10.000, but if I open it from a google search result, the count is 2. Strange… Does anyone have any explanation?

Hi,

That would be unusual indeed. Some examples would be helpful if possible. Post a link to a post with this problem so I can take a look.

Thanks

ok, so I found the what causes the problem, but I don’t know the solution. In one case the page was loaded with http, the other case with https. That is what makes the difference in the like count. Here is the link, try it yourself.

Is it possible that it counts http and https links separately? I just installed the certificate on the website and planning to use it with https. But then what happens with all the Likes so far???

I believe that is the case. Changing to https will begin the count from 0, it is like changing the entire website URL as far as Facebook is concerned. I remember other users who lost the likes after a similar change to https, they tried solutions like this
https://really-simple-ssl.com/knowledge-base/how-to-recover-facebook-likes-after-moving-to-httpsssl/
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/faqs#moving-urls
But I don’t know if it will work or not unfortunately.
