I’m using AdTech for serving ads and I’ve noticed that if I put the code for 300×250 banner in your ads system in the sidebar section, then showing that ad using your ad widget stretches it so that it covers the entire sidebar width. However, if I just paste the code in a text widget, it shows up just fine.

Hi,
Unfortunately the theme’s ads system only works with adsense code or image banners so using another type of ads could generate issues of this kind.
You could also use this sizes options and check if works setting a custom size for your sidebar ad: http://screencast.com/t/TRGdgzusZ
