Main Menu has lost formatting

Our main menu is now just listing as a vertical list of items rather that a horizontal bar with headers that toggle down.

It looks like this: screen shot of incorrect main menu rendering

Hmmm… trouble getting the image to post, but you can view the site at http://www.computertalk.com and you should see the issue with the menu.

This just started happening. Any thoughts on why?

Hello,
This issue comes from using a child theme in the current theme version.
Most of the theme files were moved into the tagdiv composer plugin as per the requirements of envato: https://help.author.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000472383-WordPress-Theme-Requirements.
We wrote an article on the subject here: https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/
Moving forward with such requirements, a child theme will only work with functions.php, and style.css and the few files left in the main theme folder as envato requires all functionality to be added through plugins.

Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for understanding.

Bogdan,
Thanks so much for the quick reply. I read the documentation on updating the core of tagdiv themes and I did follow the steps in that post when I updated the theme.

I’m also a little confused, because as far as I can tell we’re not using any child themes.

Here’s a screen shot of the themes as shown within our WP admin: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ives30hpn44y28o/Screen%20Shot%202019-04-18%20at%202.34.49%20PM.png?dl=0

As I understood it reading about child themes, I would see a child theme here.

And this is what the theme folders look like in the files folder of our control panel: https://www.dropbox.com/s/k1izd12dki4hxj8/Screen%20Shot%202019-04-18%20at%202.40.38%20PM.png?dl=0

We created the menu in the Appearances > Menu section of the admin which is using the php file located at computertalk.com / httpdocs / WordPress / wp-admin / nav-menus.php.

There are other menu php files in wp-admin as well.

Any further thoughts based on this?

If I provide log-in details, would it help for you to have a look inside the admin area?

Thanks.

Just as an FYI, I’ve used the TD composer to create a new header for our home page with the menu that’s broken and our logo, at least so people visiting the home page won’t see the broken menu.

I don’t know how to apply this across all our pages, however, and so anything past the home page still shows the broken menu.

Hi,

Please make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict, please deactivate all non theme plugins, also if you are using child theme or cache plugin, please deactivate them, clear all cache and try again.

Thank you!

We’re not using any child themes at all, either via plugin or otherwise.

And OK. When I turn off the caching on our site the main menu does show correctly.

Problem fixed.
