Newspaper 9.7 issues

Do I understand correctly that if someone wants now new Newspaper updates they need to rebuild the whole website from the beginning? Because of this is exactly I faced today morning when I decided to upgrade Newspaper theme. Within 3 minutes I restored the previous version from backup. And yes I have TagDiv composer installed and activated, but I use WPBakery. The reason is simple, the whole website has been built by using WPBakery, there was no TagDiv composer back in that time. Also, WPBakery is way more user-friendly, understandable and easier to use than tagdiv which looks pretty complicated and rough. And anyway changing it would also mean to build everything up from the beginning.

Anyway if Envato makes new rules and are forcing Theme builders to change stuff and make them change themes less user friendly, maybe it’s time to say bye bye to Envato?

Ahh never mind, I just found out what the issue was and fixed it.

But the question remains, what’s going on? What’s the exact change and reason behind it? Did someone in Envato fell down pretty hard on the head or what’s the reason for these changes are?

Hi Edragon

I have exactly the same situation. The site was build with wpbakery long time before tagDiv composer comes.

I haven’t update yet the Newspaper theme yet, i have version 9.6 and TagDiv composer is disabled. Everything is working ok. May i ask what was the issue and how you fixed it? For sure i will have the same issue when i update the theme.

Thanks

Hello,

When you’ll be updating to the Newspaper 9.7 version, you’ll need to activate the tagDiv Composer to keep the Newspaper theme functionality you’ve previously used.
Otherwise, you will have basic WordPress functionality, complying with Envato WordPress Requirements – https://help.author.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000472383-WordPress-Theme-Requirements

Please note that activating the tagDiv Composer doesn’t mean that you are required to use our custom page builder on your website.
You can use the WP Bakery page builder as you did before the update
We recommended you to do not use the tagDiv Composer and WP Bakery page builders on the same page though, because you cannot edit with WP Baker blocks and shortcodes created with tagDiv Composer or vice-versa.

Please make a backup for your website before updating. If you need help, please don’t hesitate to open a new thread on forum.tagdiv.com or send us an email with all the details at contact@tagdiv.com.

Thank you for understanding!

Hey apoellin

There were two things. First was one of my stupidity, did not read the latest information, so I did not notice that after the update I need to activate tagDiv composer again.

The second one was some custom made changes made previously, nothing directly to do with tagdiv stuff at all, once we fixed and made changes it worked charmingly without any issues.
