Why is this lazy method of relying on calls to Google all over the web tolerated?
Who needs the mass monopoly’s servers to slow down the theme and fetch which could and should be stored locally?
If speed matters–and every little bit does with slow WordPress–then unnecessary external calls should be eliminated, as well as a diversity of sources for creating a web.
Additionally, caring about our users, one less bit of snooping by big brother is a good thing.
Support diversity, increased privacy and competition, not monopoly!

If you do not want to use the Google fonts you can deactivate them from Theme panel>Theme fonts > -> https://www.screencast.com/t/45l0SaDhhOHz
