Go to last post

Hi folks,

I am using the in-build forum of the newspaper theme, only members are able to write content in the forum.
Everything is working perfectly, now I want that if members click on a topic, they will be brought to the last “UNREAD” post, so they don’t have to go through every pages over and over again to see the last message.

Also, is there a way to see which forums contain new posts? Like having a small image with “NEW” on it or something?
We can not see excactly which forums contain new posts, this will be realy exaggerating to view all forums to see which has been answered or which contain questions.

Thanks for the help.
Also I installed the bbPress plug-in: “Go to first unread post”, this does not work.

Hi,

You could try using this plugin with bbpress to set something for new posts: https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbpress-vip-support-plugin/
I will add your suggestion to “Go to last post” option on our todo list and we will investigate it and consider it for future updates.

Thanks for the message!

Thank you for your answer, I will try this out tonight and let you know what the results are.
Also, do you have any idea when such a thing is imported in the theme?

Thanks for the support.

Hi Lucian,

I tried the plug-in you supplied to me, but this one isn’t working neither on your theme.
Most of the functionalitites are showing, but aren’t clickable.
Other things like unrevolved and solved aren’t showing before the topics or after the topics.
Also the amount of posts and the forum names aren’t showing up under the avatar.

It seems like a lot of output on the frontend of the forum is not showing.
Also this plug-in does not solve my problem to send readers to their last UNREAD post.

So what I would like to achieve is to have a “new” message in front of the topics which contain new messages (according to the last visit of a member) and to send them to the last UNREAD post if they click on a topic with the “new” message.
There are a lot of plug-ins that SHOULD solve this problem form me, but unfortunately is not working on this theme. Also I would not like to go to the basic template as the template looks awesome.

Thanks for helping me out with this.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay! Unfortunately due to the fact that the theme uses a custom template using a different code structure and as you have noticed as well the bbpress related plugins don’t work well or at all.
If you plan to keep the modified template then I suggest to try implement this yourself or get some to do it for you as unfortunately you will need custom work for it which we cannot offer at the moment as we work hard on the development, updates, fixes and support. You can always get a freelancer from sites like: http://studio.envato.com/ if you don’t know how to do it yourself.
Like I wrote before I have also added your suggestion to our todo list and we will investigate it and consider it for future updates but I can’t give you an exact answer on that as we have many requests on our lists and few time and resources so we have to be very carefully what we pick to implement.

Thanks for understanding and for your message!

Okay, thank you for noticing me.
I hope you will fix this as soon as possible and place it in the next update.

Also, if I am able to fix the problem myself I will notify you and give you the update.
So fixing for you guys would be a lot easier.
