This is most likely a plugin conflict. Please make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict, please deactivate all non theme plugins, also if you are using child theme or cache plugin, deactivate them, clear all cache and try again.
Also make sure that you have updated the theme properly since overwriting the previous version of theme will cause a lot of issue. It is mandatory that the older version is completely erased before installing the 9.7.2 Here are some tips and tricks on how to update the theme: https://tagdiv.com/update-newspaper-theme/
