Deactivating and Reactivating Theme

I have a conflict between Newspaper9 theme and the MemberPress membership plugin.
They want me to deactivate Newspaper9 theme, adjust a few settings in MemberPress, and then reactivate the theme.
Can I safely do this and return to the site with no damage to menus, widgets, etc?

This can be achieve only if you do not make any changes on menu or other settings regarding of Newspaper theme; but first please ma a full back to your website.
