I’m using Newspaper theme for a few years now on a couple of websites. I really enjoy working with this theme, I might even have fallen in love with it. So I want to buy the theme for one of our new blogs. But this blog requires some advanced search and combination-filter options.
Of course we can use a plugin, but the shown results will have a different design. So I hope you guys are planning a search feature which also can search in tags/categories/author names an other meta data and some advanced filter features where users can combine tags and/or categories to find the right articles.
In the meantime, search/filter plugin suggestions are welcome.

Thank you for the kind words, much appreciated. As far as I know currently there aren’t any plans to add more capabilities to the wordpress search functionality. I will note this suggestion however, and it will be considered for future updates. Sorry for the inconvenience.
So for the moment you could make tests with some plugins, try free plugins if possible

These may come with their own search template, but maybe the template can be customized in terms of design from within the plugin.
