Widget cache issue – URGENT help please

I have the site http://www.snowsbest.com and we have a weather snow forecast widget on the site in the sidebar. We also have it set up on 15 individual pages for 7 day detailed forecasts – example here: Snowsbest.com/snow-forecast/thredbo

We update the forecasts automatically ever 12 hours at 3.00am and 3.00pm. The widget then will say “last updated x of hours ago”.

The issue I have is that when I am logged in to the backend of my Newspaper theme WP site I can see that the widgets have all updated in sidebar and on the pages and it will say however many hours it was last updated (up to 12 hours).

HOWEVER when I open a private window or am logged out of the site or am on a mobile device the widget is not always updating and often says “updated 1 day ago” or “updated 18 hours ago” when all updates are made every 12 hours.

This is a problem as my site is regularly visited by people looking for updated snow forecasts.

I have WP Super Cache installed and wonder how to fix those settings if they are wrong? Do I need a different cache for dynamic content?

Any help would be appreciated, I have been asking two developers and they have not been able to come up with a solution.

I believe the issue is that the widget is dynamic and we are trying to display dynamic content on a cached page. But I don’t understand how to fix it.

Hi,

The cache is usually cleared when a new page or post is published, so the content remains fresh. Or when comments are made for a post or page.

For me it says updated 14 hours ago in the sidebar – http://prntscr.com/oav0yc
It is true that caching can cause such issues. You could clear the cache each time you update the widgets (if this is done manually), but this would be somewhat inconvenient.

You could try what is suggested in the advanced panel of the super cache plugin
http://prntscr.com/oavani
Then check the same way to see if the situation improves.

Thanks
