Hi, folks
okay… my turn for couple of help topics
1) is there a way through hack/slash/chop/spindle or other method to set the trending ticker on home page to *not* de-dupe other stories on front page. Issue is that with a “new” item, if we want to feature that with image, if it’s most popular and appears in ticker, it doesn’t appear in latest/featured elements on page, and may be missed.
2) is there a way to set the ticker to run on all the post pages? Presumably I could add the ticker module element sitewide or with shortcode to the appropriate template being used … (e.g., “style 3”) ?
Thanks for any feedback. 🙂
Chris
Hi Christopher,
1. Please note that we know about this matter and we have it on our todo list as a bug and we will try to fix it as soon as possible.
You could use the offset feature for the ticker and set it as the first x posts not to be included in the ticker and appear on slides/blocks.. until we fix this.
2. Yes, you can but only if you add it in the template as using shortcodes as you wrote and edit the post template file. I have posted about this on this tread: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/a-few-questions/
You could also try to enable VC on post pages and add the ticker via pagebuilder on posts that you want it on.
Hope this helps, please let me know!
Thanks
Hi, Lucian
thanks. I set the ticker to “random” for the moment, and that works too. Also figured I could do an offset but obviously then it still hides the stories by topic “on the front page” with image/excerpt. Random solved the issue I was having for now (cool feature; didn’t even see that at first). 🙂
Thanks on (2). I think we decided not to do that for now, although it would be nice to think about in future for “latest” items. Obviously it won’t work on style 6 posts and things like that very well.
Hi,
We will try to fix the issue with the ticker in next versions you can try to use it on posts also as I suggested, unfortunately it was not designed to be used on posts and we haven’t tested this at all so I’m not sure how it will work for all posts types but you could try and let me know if I can help!
Thanks
