Comments pagination on 9.8

I am in the process of upgrading to 9.8. Took the safe bet and made a local copy of the site first (good idea it turns out :P)

I still have a few things to work out before changing the actual site. There is however one thing I can´t get my head around, and that is the pagination for comments. Some of my posts have well over 100 comments that gets divided up into pages of 50. Before I used the Child Theme functionality to alter how the comment pagination was display (for reference). Since pretty much all the Child Theme functionality is gone I wonder how I can make this work again, without altering the actual theme files.

Having a small text just saying “Newer Comments” is´nt really so great. Otherwise really excited about the update.

Hello !

From 9.8 you can reuse Child theme since it has been updated. Please find out more about that here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/

Unfortunately there is no other option at the moment to achieve what you want.

Thank you !

Hi,

Ok, so I would be possible to keep doing what I´ve been doing so far then? I have been trying to alter the comment-section, but can´t seem to do anything with it.

No changes I´m making to comments.php within the Newspaper-folder (not Child theme) gets executed. I´m using a cloud template for my posts-pages, does these load comments-styling from some other document?

I even tried renaming the while comments.php-file but the comments are still there. Really odd 🙂

Hello !

If you’re using cloud template then you should look for the files in the TagDiv Composer plugin folder not Newspaper Theme folder, since most of them have been moved there.

Thank you !

I finally found the correct php-file “tdb-comments.php” located in plugins > td-cloud-library > parts. Editing this file does what I want, so all good so far 🙂

Is there however a way of adding this file to the child-theme so I don´t have to manually update it after each update?

Hi,

Unfortunately for the moment only the theme files and some files from tagDiv Composer plugin that are mentioned in our documentation can be set in child theme -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/

Thank you for your understanding!
