Show thumbnail sizes in drop down when placing media

Hi,
I don’t know if this is something you’ve done before, but it would be great if we could choose from the current theme thumbnails in the drop-down menu when placing media.

I’m trying to get my authors to use standard sizes to avoid resizing images in the browser and it’s hard to do that when all we see are the 3 standard WP options.

Is that possible?
