Tenho um site com 2 linguas.
Gostaria de saber, se consigo ocultar as categorias da lingua que não esta em uso no momento.
Exemplo de categorias: 1pt, 1en, 2pt, 2en.
Exibir apenas: 1pt e 2pt
Pois os usuários estão postando errado.

Destacado – espanhol
Destaque – portugues
Empresas – portugues
Empresas LATAM -espanhol
Quando selecionar um idioma padrão como mostra a proxima imagem, gostaria que exibisse apenas as categorias do idioma selecionado e ocultar o outro idioma.

So practically you want to show only the category from the selected language, usually this option comes from the translating plugin, this is not an theme option.
From what I know the WPML plugin can achieve what you need, maybe there are other plugins too that can achieve this.

Eu imaginava que era um função do proprio plugin (Polylang).
Mesmo assim perguntei pois queria saber se já desenvolveram alguma solução para este problema, já que o plugin WPML é pago.

For information only, the Polylang plugin does not separate categories by language used.
But if you install the old wordpress post and page editor, it separates automatically.
