We would like to remove the “Share this:” text and associated buttons from our homepage. We currently use the TagDiv Newspaper theme, but I have not been able to find a solution through WordPress, the theme panels, or the forums.

That seems to come from a plugin sharedaddy as you can see it here: https://www.screencast.com/t/puti9W8j You will have to disable that from the plugin settings.
