I’ve tried editing the category template and adding a background image but it’s not showing up. Any help would be appreciated.

That category is a category template from tagDiv Cloud Library and the image set at the top of category was set with tagDiv Composer -> https://tagdiv.com/find-whats-new-category-templates/ -> http://prntscr.com/pq0tvf -> http://prntscr.com/pq0u10 after that set it in Theme panel> Categories as global category template or individual -> http://prntscr.com/pq0w5qafter that set on category the -> http://prntscr.com/pq0wkk
