I tried adding a background clickable advert and either nothing shows or it makes the website take forever to load.
As well, can you explain about changing the website into a boxed version?

While having a background the layout will automatically become boxed. In order to add a Background add you will have to go into Ads – Background Ads: https://www.screencast.com/t/KOVG4nWo

Yes, but I tried adding a background image and nothing happened.
Will this show on the home page as well, or do I have to modify that separately as well?
What is funny is when I turned on the stretch background option, then it worked, even the click on ads option worked, but it says not to turn it on if using clickable ads.
Without clicking stretch background it will not work.
Can you explain.

A stretched background will overwrite the background color / image. While having a background image you can only use the boxed layout.
