Are you using the AddThis plugin?
I posted a solution to this bug in the AddThis code which began on/about Dec. 20, 2014. Super annoying.

Ha. Yeah. We are looking to abandon AddThis entirely since we don’t use their stats package for anything.
Actually been testing this as simple replacement:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-share-buttons-adder/
Kind of finding the [xxx shares] stuff kind of stupid, personally. Who cares if other people are sharing it – why would that make ME want to share it? I go back and forth on that. And the cookies and tracking that goes with the XXX buttons is not really something I care for, much. So CLEAN simple share buttons that all load locally and don’t add tracking elements to my URLs, etc. …. nice. ๐
But some folks love the whole mashable style share thing.
I’ve liked AddThis as it generally has worked well “most” of the time, folks know what it is, and you had lots of simple choices for “I just want one button” or “I just want a square” or whatever.
We’re kind of leaning back to more simplicity. People who share stuff regularly know what a Pinterest button does.
a) doesn’t need to say “Pinterest” AND
b) doesn’t need a share counter,
etc.
Sorry. Getting off the soapbox now ๐
Well, you can certainly edit the built-in functionality. I was going to do that and then found that really simple plugin which kind of does the same thing. And I didn’t have time to hack the built-in theme file. Sooo… the one I am testing is pretty lightweight. I could probably take it out of the plugin and just put it into the functions.php and add the CSS to the style.css and viola!
