Just upgraded and if I use the child theme I get Fatal error: Call to undefined method td_util::author_meta() in /var/sites/f/fertilityroad.com/public_html/wp-content/themes/Newsmag-child/header.php on line 10
Using the main theme works OK
Check the changelog to make sure you don’t need to replace files in the child theme also.
With a fairly new theme, the child theme can actually change dramatically and you may need to do clean install of child theme and then add your custom css and functions to the new versions of the child theme files.
May not apply to you, but this same issue happened with Newspaper theme the first 2 months. Theme went through rapid changes, so the child them changed with the main theme quite a bit, which sort of defeats purpose of child theme.
I find it’s safer to mod the main theme, and remove one CSS redirect, which Google prefers even though the WordPress folks love to do that.

@tonejarvis Please make sure that you use the child theme provide with the latest theme files. I have also tested this and found no issue with it, should work fine.
