Change position of featured image in single post

Hello,

I previously used the Single template 1 of the default site post templates in the Newspaper theme. This template puts the featured image in the top left corner and the text in the post starts in a narrow format on the right side of the image only take over and be page wide after the end of the featured image.
I have now switched to a custom post template and it seems impossible to get the featured image to position in the same way as above. Whatever I do, the featured image becomes large and takes up the complete width of my article. The text only comes below the featured image.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I have tried to edit the default template to find out how it is done there, but I cannot find a way to open it in tagdiv composer.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Unfortunately the design for Single template 1 can not be made using a single post template from tagDiv Cloud Library.

Thank you for your understanding!

Ok, thanks for the info.
So, is there any way I can create the same effect on my own? I.e. having the featured image as more of a large thumbnail in the top left portion of the text?
If I had featured image it always covers the full width of the text column. This is what I want to avoid.

Or, even if I cannot create it myself, can I edit the default version then to add other elements?
Any tips?

Hi,

Unfortunately using a cloud template this can not be done, but you can try another think, you can set the image in side the post with left align and edit the single post template with tagDiv Composer and use the right click to remove the single featured image. In this way you can set the featured image on post and this will be display on modules and the images set inside the post content will be display as “featured image”.

Thank you!

Why don’t you create a Style 1 template? It’s an obvious need, a popular and common design. A fault of Newspaper is its obsession with images, usually too large…

I got round this to some extent by making a two-column row above the post content block and putting feature image in left column and author, date, review rating etc in the right column. But it’s a tedious workround and absolutely still not ideal, leaves loads of white space on right of pic.

Newspaper needs to do the obvious thing and create a Pro single template based on Style 1 so those who like Style 1 (my site’s got 1500+ articles in Style 1) can also get continuous scrolling and in-article ad placement.

This method also entails more work – one would have to set featured image in the post (or none will show on category pages or modules) and manually set and size the same image left-aligned at top of every post. Not great, and some way from Newspaper’s claim to make content creation easier.

Hi,

I think that there is no easy way to achieve the same type of layout, but I set it as request and if your designers can do it will do it for the coming updates.

Thank you!
