I believe someone else inquired on this same topic but the solution-link leads to a 404 page, so. I have done all the steps to try and fix this but I am getting a “configuration is not correct” error message when trying to connect my Mailchimp code to the newsletter widget. I have embedded the code all over my site.

The newsletter can not be set in post content as in your example. You can use it on any page and cloud templates (on any element place where you can use tagDiv Composer) -> https://i.imgur.com/PKNfdAj.jpg

If you want to have the mailchimp inside the post, then you need to st the code inside of all post you want to have the mailchimp.
Unfortunately the newsletter plugin can not be use in widgets, this is available only in tagDiv Composer, but you can set the mailchimp code in a text widget in in your sidebar -> https://i.imgur.com/fnZc5fQ.png
