Post content appears twice when using any Cloud Template and event widget

When I have “The Events Calendar” widget in the sidebar and use ANY single post cloud template, the post content appears twice. Once styled correctly and a second time just below with no style.

If I use one of the built-in templates it doesn’t happen, only when using a cloud template. I’ve built a new cloud template from blank with only the post content and sidebar and the post content still appears twice.

Hell o !

The Events Calendar plugin is an untested plugin and it is not covered by the Newspaper Theme support.

Thank you !

Yes, I realize that is the case but could you point me in the direction to start looking since it’s clearly something the cloud templates do that the normal single templates don’t. I’m comfortable digging into the PHP but the reason I’ve bought so many copies of your theme is because I don’t have to get in there.

I totally understand that you can’t support the code you didn’t write but you do sell a widgetized theme so one would expect at least some consideration when using widgets breaks parts of your theme.

Hello !

Unfortunately all we can do is find a css to hide the 2nd time the content is displayed.

If this helps please provide an url with the plugin active and we will take a look.

Thank you !

Found a workaround. Using the “external shortcode” block for the widget on the post template instead of putting it on the sidebar doesn’t duplicate the page content. Strangely any block with a title like “text with title” makes it duplicate the post content. Even if nothing else is on the post template except that shortcode it still displays the post content.

It also works fine on page templates and categories, just not on single posts.

I’ve sent the info. We’re going to be launching this site at the end of next week and are good to go with the workaround so if your team doesn’t find a quick fix for this version no big deal.

Thanks again!

Hello, was there ever a solution to this? Does tagDiv not support any connection to 3rd party plugins? The events plugin is widely used and one of the most basic plugins for a website.

Hello !

Unfortunately untested plugins are not covered by the support team at the moment.

Thank you for your understanding !

Is there a list of tested / approved plugins? I have built many sites in the past and this is the only site that has had a problem with the events plugin.

Hello !

Sure ! Here it is the list of tested plugins by our developers: https://www.screencast.com/t/paHmjTH9hjAS Please note that you can test and try out more plugins but you will have to keep in mind that the support wont cover them.

Thank you !

Hi. I have the same problem.

@jonsisk
what code did you put in the “external shortcode” block to make the widget display correctly in the sidebar?

The [tribe_events_list] shortcode

Thanks. I tested this shortcode before but it didn’t work. Now I read on the website https://eventcalendarnewsletter.com/how-to-fix-the-events-calendar-shortcode-not-working/ that shortcode works only with the PRO version. I will have to buy a PRO or look for another solution to the duplicate content problem.
