is there any way to change the margins of the entire home page? i would like the padding/margin on the sides to be less than what they are. i’ve tried setting the margins individually via CSS but i want all content widened equally on the home page.

Unfortunately yes, this option is individual for pages, but if you are using a cloud templates, for example a single post template for articles, you edit it and will be apply on all articles.
