LOST SETTINGS

My site is currently under construction and no work was done on it between the latter half of May and June 8th. I logged into the site on June 8th and effected the May 20th update. I then realized my theme was deactivated, because I was required to enter the license code before the updates could be activated. Many of my settings are lost, even though I restored a backup of the site, done on May 7th. Can you say what may have been the cause and how it may be avoided in the future? I shudder thinking if the site was live.

Hi,

If you do not made any changes in theme files, then all your settings should not be lost, all the settings made in theme panel or post/pages/templates are saved in database, for update please check our documentation for: How to Update the Newspaper Theme for WordPress -> https://tagdiv.com/update-newspaper-theme/
Also make sure that you do not have any plugins that can interfere with theme functionality.

If there is still a problem, you can send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login, as well as cPanel or FTP if possible. We will take a look. Include a link to this topic in the email.

Thanks for your understanding!

Despite what you say about database, I lost links to logos and favicon, all footer info, ad placeholder links, and some social media links. Could that have been caused by a hack?

Hi,

Unfortunately I do not know this, but if you have a backup to your website, then we can check the problem, and if this is caused by our theme, we’ll fix it.
Let me know if you have a backup and we’ll investigate further this problem.

Thank you!
